Electrical Engineer
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Digital systems & embedded
Design and implement embedded systems using microcontrollers (we use STM32) and low speed digital (I2C, SPI, CAN, etc) and USB.
Analog
Interfacing with sensors (e.g. current, pressure, temperature sensors) and actuators (constant current drive, piezoelectrics, etc). Deep understanding of analog principles (impedance, frequency response, op-amps, etc.).
Power electronics
Implement motor drivers, buck and boost converters, and power distribution systems. Must be comfortable selecting the converter topology and controller ICs and implementing a reference design.
PCB design
Own schematics and layout in Altium, including multi-board assemblies, BOM management, and flex boards. Demonstrated ability to own a board design from concept to completion. Experience with connectors and wire harness design is a plus.
Board bring-up & debugging
Take ownership of both delivering a circuit board working after designing and ordering it, and the ability to debug with strong hands-on debugging skills: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and SMD rework. Demonstrated ability to track down and solve "unreproducible" bugs.
Cross-functional collaboration
Must be able to collaborate with the mechanical engineering team throughout the design process.
WHAT YOU BRING
Must-haves
• Demonstrated ability to solder microcontrollers directly to a circuit board — not just dev-board experience
• Schematic capture and PCB layout experience in Altium, including multi-board assemblies and flex boards
• Hands-on experience taking a board from design through fabrication, assembly, and bring-up
• Strong hands-on debugging skills: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, SMD rework
• Attention to detail balanced with ability to make decisions with incomplete information
• Ability to balance doing things properly with hacking something together for a demo in a time crunch
Nice-to-haves
• Experience with USB-C PD (power delivery) is a plus but not required
• Experience with CAN bus is a plus but not required
• Experience with batteries and BMS (battery management systems) is a plus but not required
